SYTYCD Season 7 Confirmed for Summer

Thank goodness were back in the summer!

Thank goodness we're back in the summer!

SYTYCD is moving back to its rightful place in the summer! The series will be showing summer of 2010. The season premiere date is May 27. Thank you to IDF’s buffmetube for giving us the good news!

As expected, Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” will return this summer. Fox will debut the show May 27 with host Cat Deeley. After a fairly successful fall run, there was some speculation Fox would make this show a permanent part of its fall lineup. The network still might, but the even more popular summer edition definitely isn’t going anywhere.

Aspiring dancers better start stretching: Fox’s hit reality series So You Think You Can Dance will launch its seventh season with a two-hour premiere on Thursday, May 27. Auditions are still underway for this year’s contestants, who will compete in various dance genres for a cash prize.

Woohoo! I’m excited to have the show back in the summer, when I don’t have to worry about it interfering with school work and such! What do you guys think? Is there anyone out there that prefers the show in the fall?

YAY, I hated having it in the fall. I'm simply too busy that time of year! Now we just need the old stage back and SYTYCD will fully renew it's glory! (Not that I ever stopped loving it, I just perfer the old stage!) :) Go Nigel! :)

I liked it better when it was in the fall, it has the chance to be way more popular and that's what i want for the show, it hasn't reached the popularity it deserves and i wish more people fell in love with it.

Just because we had so many changes all together (new set, new graphics, new opening theme, no rotating judges, no result shows the first two weeks, top-6 finale) it doesn't mean that it couldn't work in season 7, don't you think?

Sign the Twitition I linked in the above post, yeah?

I think the popularity went down in the fall, and I think that was the biggest issue with the fall season. I think their target audience (school-age teens and kids) didn't have as much time for the show in the fall. And then the schedule… who knows if that is still going to be a problem if they do it fall 2010, right?

Anyways, I feel like the show is much more successful in the summer, and I think they learned from this past season not to try it again in the fall. I'm not shooting you down though, I think you have a valid point that there were so many changes at once, it was a little overwhelming :)

Right right i totally get you, and i agree on a certain level. What i meant by popularity is that it could POSSIBLY be more popular in the fall because more people spend their evening at home, like me… in the summer i never watch it live, i always tivo it :) but if I weren't a fan i wouldn't even consider doing that!
and since i could never get over the fact that most people have never even heard of SYTYCD when it's such a great show, well i thought the fall would change that.

Obviously it failed… and yes, i do fear that there might always be new scheduling conflicts in the fall, so i'm definitely not disappointed that it's heading back to summer.. i just think it was a great opportunity for season 6 and it didn't really work. I don't know if anyone else feels that way…?
